The IRD Tax Portal (officially IRD e-Services, at eservices.ird.gov.lk) is Sri Lanka’s official online system for all tax matters — filing returns, checking your balance, making payments, and claiming refunds. This page covers the basics; for the full step-by-step walkthrough, see our detailed guide below.

Getting to the portal

Go to https://www.ird.gov.lk, click “e-Services” in the top menu, then select “Access to e-Services”. You’ll need your TIN (Taxpayer Identification Number) and your IRD PIN to log in.

Always navigate from the official ird.gov.lk domain — avoid login links from emails or WhatsApp messages, which may be phishing attempts.

What you can do once logged in

  • File your annual income tax return (mandatory online since Y/A 2023/2024)
  • Check your current tax balance and payment history
  • Make tax payments and view APIT credits deducted by your employer
  • Claim refunds on overpaid tax
